A Special Message from Fr. Richard Sunwoo

Memorial of St. Joseph the Worker
Dear Trojan Catholic Family in Christ,
It was announced today that my term as Pastor of Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center will come to a close on June 30, 2024. I will be assigned to be the Pastor of St. Louise de Marillac in Covina, California beginning July 1, 2024. I am excited to welcome Fr. Matthew Wheeler, USC Class of 2010, as the new Pastor of Our Savior Parish & the USC Caruso Catholic Center.
It has been a daily joy to be your pastor. I am sad to leave USC at the end of June, but I know that our Trojan Catholic community will continue to thrive. Our Sunday masses are full, more and more students are coming to weekday masses, Eucharistic Adoration, and confessions. I was able to participate in our historic first (of many) Eucharistic Procession through campus that was organized by our students!
The mission of Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center is to invite the USC community into a transforming relationship with Christ and one another to make a lasting impact on the world. I have had the privilege to live this mission each day and am thankful for our incredible staff and students who have made these 8 years a true gift.
Although I will not be leaving until June, I would like to invite our student community to the 5:00 PM Mass on Sunday, May 5. This will be my opportunity to say goodbye to our students as they close out the year and go on summer break.
I’m thankful for the love and support of the Catholic Trojan community. Please know that you are in my prayers, and I humbly ask for your prayers as well. God Bless & Fight On!
With all my fatherly affection, I am
Sincerely Yours in Christ,
Fr. Richard Sunwoo
